With housing costs on the rise, our local hero’s are finding it difficult to find an affordable place to live. Every year, potential new Prescott Unified School District teachers accept positions with PUSD and then back out of their commitment later, because they can’t find anywhere to live that is affordable. Our kids miss out on top teachers because people can’t find affordable housing in Prescott in a reasonable amount of time.

To curb this issue, PUSD obtained a $500,000 grant, available to help school districts build affordable housing for their teachers. PUSD is contracting with Southwest Homes AZ to build six 2-bedroom, 900-square-foot factory-built homes on vacant property at the Taylor Hicks Elementary School campus.
